The Seeing Eye Puppy Raiser Program

The Seeing Eye is the oldest existing guide dog school in the world. People who are blind or visually impaired go to the Seeing Eye in Morristown, NJ and spend about a month to get matched with the ideal dog and also get trained with their new "Seeing Eye" dog.

I am a "Puppy Raiser" in this volunteer program. For 13 to 15 months I foster & train a puppy, before the puppy goes on for professional training at The Seeing Eye. Part of the Puppy Raiser training program is getting exposure for the puppies, so that they can experience situations they might be in as a guide dog. Train rides, airports, and walking in a city are all scenario's that a puppy might be in as a guide dog.  Directly below is a photo of Rubin the puppy I raised.
